Arkansas National Guard deploys 80 soldiers to Washington from North Little Rock
Eighty Arkansas National Guard soldiers have deployed to Washington, D.C., from North Little Rock for federal duties. The assignment supports President Donald Trump’s Safe and Beautiful mission.
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders approved the action on Oct. 1. The mission runs through Feb. 12, 2027.
The departing personnel serve with the 39th Mobile Brigade Combat Team. More than 60 troops are returning to Arkansas from the nation’s capital.
The new arrivals will replace members from two separate state units. Nearly 50 troops from the 39th Mobile Brigade Combat Team are heading home. More than a dozen members from the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade are also returning.
This movement marks the sixth rotation of state guardsmen since Dec. 1, 2025, officials said. The shift brings the total state presence in Washington, D.C., to more than 170 guardsmen.
National Guard units can deploy under state or federal command. The federal government funds this operation.
Military leaders manage rotations from North Little Rock headquarters. Service members complete missions before returning home.
