Porum Couple Killed in Nighttime Golf Cart Crash in Muskogee County

A husband and wife from Porum, Oklahoma, died Sunday night when a car hit the golf cart they were riding on State Highway 2 in Muskogee County.

John and Dawn Head were traveling south in the cart after 9:30 p.m. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a southbound vehicle that had come from East 303rd Street South struck the cart in the rear — its driver reported the cart had no lights — and the cart overturned onto its side off the road.

Both riders were thrown from the cart and died from the impact. No one in the other vehicle was hurt.

Muskogee County troopers responded to the scene and cleared it later that night. As with other fatal highway collisions in Oklahoma, the Highway Patrol’s report will document the roadway factors for the official record.

State Highway 2 serves the rural communities of Muskogee County, including the Heads’ hometown of Porum.
