Arkansas Community Action Agencies Association donates to Head Start programs in Little Rock
Tomekia Moore announced digital funding for eight regional early learning programs in Little Rock. The gifts provide seed money to help children connect with technology early. The event concluded Get Connected Arkansas week.
The gifts deliver $500 to each recipient program across the state. Leaders presented the funds to build technology capacity among partners.
“We talk about how we want the best for our kids, we want our kids to reach for the stars and we have amazing programs across the state that are doing just that with the investment piece. We deeply wanted to just do something to recognize their work today and so they were gifted with these digital capacity building seed funds,” said Moore.
The money helps partner classrooms upgrade their technology tools. Moore serves as executive director of ACAAA. She noted the broad role of technology in modern life.
“Digital opportunity, it touches every part of our lives, right? When it comes back to healthcare, workforce, education, you name it,” said Moore.
Classrooms use technology more during every school year, Moore said. Early access remains vital for youth development. They must stay prepared.
“We want them to be prepared in the school settings and beyond,” said Moore.
Community Services Office’s received one of the financial awards. The non-profit helps children in Garland County through wrap-around services. Executive Director Leslie Paschal-Barnes leads the agency.
The funding will help enhance that work. It adds new devices. Paschal-Barnes said the money will go a long way.
“Our steam program has been successful and this funding is going to help enhance that program because we will involve more technology for that program,” said Paschal-Barnes. “For my particular program the students and families will be trained on technology in a family setting.”
Community action networks connect neighborhood providers with resources. Little Rock agencies work alongside county partners to expand educational opportunities.
The investments support local programs throughout Little Rock and nearby communities.
