Comments 0 Tyler Beaumont 1 min read

A roadside blaze is delaying westbound drivers on Interstate 40 in Conway County. Emergency responses created long travel delays on Wednesday afternoon. Traffic slowed near the Menifee exit 117.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation reported the growing queue of vehicles. Crews are already on site trying to extinguish the fire. They are working quickly.

The left lane is currently the most impacted area of delay. The left shoulder also faces heavy impact in Conway County. Drivers should expect slowing.

State transportation workers regularly monitor highway conditions and respond to roadway incidents. Crews secure the surrounding lanes to keep motorists safe during roadside emergencies.

The incident remains an active event. Officials expect to release further details later.
