Eric Bolin arrested in Lavaca during search for missing person
Eric Bolin was taken into custody near Lavaca on Tuesday during a property search. The operation relates to a missing person case from more than 15 years ago. The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office conducted the search with help from the FBI.
Deputies served the search warrant on West Utah Ranch Road, north of Lavaca. The search of the property continued through Wednesday. Investigators focused on an open field behind the home.
The case involves Greg Bolin, who vanished on March 1, 2009. Public records show he was dropped off at his cousin’s property on that date. He was never seen or heard from again.
The sheriff’s office received a tip about the disappearance on Sept. 23. That lead prompted investigators to seek the search warrant. The agency has not solved the case.
Deputies arrested Bolin, 51, at the Lavaca home on Sept. 30. He is Greg Bolin’s cousin. His charges are unrelated to the disappearance.
Bolin faces a dozen charges, according to booking records. The list includes:
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a firearm by certain persons
Booking records show Bolin has no bond set. He remains in custody. Investigators have also identified three persons of interest in the disappearance.
A search warrant allows law enforcement officers to enter private property to look for evidence. Agencies often protect active cases by withholding details during ongoing field searches.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone with details about the case to call 479-783-1051. Officials said no further information will be released right now.
