Tyson Foods is investing $100,000 in the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff to support career readiness programs. The gift funds workforce development efforts for college and high school students across the Arkansas Delta.

Leaders announced the investment Monday during UAPB’s Homecoming week. The total funding divides evenly between two separate campus programs.

The university designated $50,000 for the Office of Career Services. Another $50,000 goes to the Youth Motivation Task Force.

University Chancellor Anthony Graham said the funding will help prepare students for future careers. Graham said it will also strengthen communities across Arkansas.

The Office of Career Services serves about 500 students each year. Officials said the new money will back workplace skills training and interview preparation.

“Our students need to build professional skills, engage directly with employers, and develop the confidence and relationships that turn an education into a career,” said Shirley Cherry, director of the Office of Career Services. “Tyson Foods’ investment will allow us to reach more of them.”

The Youth Motivation Task Force links students with employers through workshops and classroom visits. The initiative also provides one-on-one mentoring. The program will expand outreach into area high schools.

“What makes this partnership exciting is its reach,” said Jaimie D. Wright, interim vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement. “In addition to assisting current students, Tyson Foods is helping high school students, employers, and families across the region connect with UAPB and see what is possible for their future.”

The Youth Motivation Task Force will celebrate its 55th year in 2027, according to the university. It operates as a campus career initiative.

Company representatives plan to attend Homecoming festivities this week. The partnership will be recognized during Saturday’s football game at Simmons Bank Field in Pine Bluff.
