L3Harris opens new solid rocket motor facility in Camden
Several state and local officials attended the opening of a new solid rocket motor facility in Camden. The site will support production for the U.S. Army’s Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System, according to L3Harris. Additional propellant processing facilities will also aid that work, the company stated.
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders celebrated the opening of the site. She praised the local community during the event.
“The opening of this facility is a reminder that Camden, Arkansas, is an anchor of the defense industry and a critical component of the Arsenal of Freedom,” Sanders said in part. “This is a great moment for the people of Camden, the state of Arkansas, and the United States. Thank you to the team at L3Harris for their commitment to freedom and for choosing to call Arkansas home.”
The company stated the completion is part of a $216 million agreement signed in 2023. That deal was made with the Department of War to increase production of tactical missiles.
L3Harris is working on multiple expansion projects at the Camden site. Those efforts include the Arkansas Advanced Propulsion Facilities. That project broke ground in November 2025.
Defense production facilities manufacture specialized hardware and rocket systems for military branches. These industrial operations handle sensitive propellant processing and assembly under federal agreements.
