Hot Springs Village Walk to End Alzheimer’s set Oct. 24
The Alzheimer’s Association will hold a community fundraising walk in Hot Springs Village on Saturday, Oct. 24. The event raises critical money for local care programs, support initiatives and ongoing medical research. Central Arkansas Nursing Centers presents the upcoming gathering.
Activities will take place at Grove Park, located at 1105 DeSoto Blvd. Registration begins at 9 a.m. An opening ceremony will start at 10 a.m. The walk begins immediately afterward.
Organizers said attendees can join the Promise Garden ceremony. Participants carry flowers representing their personal ties to the disease. More than 600 communities nationwide host the event each year.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, over 7 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease. In Arkansas, more than 60,000 residents have the condition. About 175,000 people in the state serve as caregivers.
The annual event serves as the organization’s main fundraiser. Proceeds benefit ongoing research and community support efforts.
The Alzheimer’s Association provides care services and education for affected families nationwide. Community walks bring residents together each autumn across Hot Springs Village to raise awareness.
