Mary Williams inducted into Senior Hall of Fame in Little Rock
Mary Williams received statewide recognition Monday morning at the Arkansas State Capitol building in Little Rock. She joined three other honorees for improving the quality of life for older state residents.
The state Department of Human Services presented the honors. Four individuals received the recognition during the morning ceremony.
Williams represents Hot Spring County. She directs the senior companion volunteer program in that area.
“I most enjoy the project of getting out with my client…and we go out shopping…have lunch together and have a good time,” Williams said.
She helps local seniors stay connected. “Just being there for them because she doesn’t have family members that she sees every day,” Williams said.
The Arkansas Department of Human Services manages public assistance and community support programs. Its initiatives serve vulnerable groups across regions like Little Rock and rural counties.
The Senior Hall of Fame began in 1991. The organization honors state residents who show civic duty, strength and care for others.
