John Tyson spoke about Arkansas athletics during a meeting Monday, October 5th in Little Rock. His remarks focused on fundraising and building a competitive team.

Tyson serves as CEO and Chairman of Tyson Foods. He addressed NIL and team development.

He discussed long-term support for the football program.

“If we don’t come together and raise money together, we don’t stand a chance in the state of Arkansas. And then I think about, the responsibility to to give Ryan year two, year three,” Tyson said.

Tyson noted that fast spending does not guarantee success. He said building a program requires a steady method.

“You get a lot of money. Call it hot money. You get a bunch of players. It doesn’t work,” Tyson said.

He praised the effort of the current roster under Ryan. He said the players are working hard on the field.

Tyson also compared himself to other major college sports boosters across the country. He mentioned Cody Campbell at Texas Tech.

“Well he’s got oil, I’ve got chickens,” Tyson said.

The Little Rock Touchdown Club hosts regular sports gatherings in Little Rock. Speakers include business leaders, coaches and former athletes who discuss regional and national athletics.
