Little Rock food truck burglarized after owner leaves purse behind
Christina King discovered a burglary at her mobile kitchen in Little Rock on Monday morning. Equipment was destroyed, and hundreds of dollars were stolen from the register. King had accidentally left her purse inside the vehicle on Sunday.
She returned Monday to retrieve the missing bag. She found broken items strewn across the floor.
“I noticed a lot of stuff on the ground and stuff broken, and what I came to get was missing. That’s when I realized somebody had got in,” King said.
The intruder caused heavy damage inside the mobile trailer. Countertop machinery was smashed on the ground.
“They threw down all of my P.O.S. systems, and everything else that was on the counter was on the floor too. They broke the cash drawer, the screen is broken on one of the POS systems,” said King.
The thief took hundreds of dollars in cash from the drawer. The suspect then attempted to use King’s debit cards out of town.
King operates G&J’s Soul Food in Little Rock. She closed the trailer for a full week to handle repairs.
The business will reopen on Friday. It will operate with a limited menu.
“I couldn’t let that stop me from continuing on and doing what I like to do,” King said.
Local law enforcement agencies handle commercial burglaries by gathering evidence from the scene and interviewing victims. Investigators also track unauthorized transactions made with stolen financial cards.
The Little Rock Police Department is handling the investigation. Officers ask anyone with information that could lead to an arrest to contact the department.
