Detectives are investigating the death of an unresponsive baby in North Little Rock. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures at the scene on Saturday morning. The child was pronounced dead at the residence.

Officers responded around 9:30 a.m. to a home in the 5800 block of Alta Vista Drive. They received a report of a child who was not breathing, according to the North Little Rock Police Department.

Police said investigators processed the residential scene. Detectives also conducted interviews to learn what happened. No cause of death is established yet.

The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory. State medical examiners perform autopsies to identify causes of death in unattended fatalities. That official examination will determine both the cause and manner of death.

No additional information was immediately released on Saturday. Officials ask anyone with information to call the North Little Rock Police Department tip line at 501-680-8439. People can also call Detective William Williams at 501-771-7151. Anonymous tips are accepted.
