Kanis Road closed for construction this week in Little Rock

Crews closed a major Little Rock intersection Monday to finish planned pedestrian access improvements. The five-day project redirects traffic around the area and limits turn options for motorists.

Workers shut down the intersection of Kanis Road and John Barrow Road. Local businesses near the work zone keep access during this period.

John Barrow Road has left and right turns closed. Traffic runs in one northbound lane and one southbound lane. Drivers must detour.

Officials ask drivers to use Michael Drive, Labette Drive, and John Barrow Road. The route also includes Kanis Commercial Drive and Kanis Park Drive.

Road improvement projects frequently require temporary lane reductions to keep workers safe. City departments establish marked detours to guide drivers through alternate residential and commercial corridors.

The city reopened West Markham Street earlier following pedestrian bridge demolition work. Leaders in Little Rock continue considering options to rebuild that bridge structure.
